Parent Organizations

In full recognition of the importance of K-12 education to the success of my/our children, we adopt this Community Compact in full acknowledgement of our responsibilities as a parent/guardian/advocate to keep our children on the “Pathway to Graduation.” I/We will, to the best of my/our abilities:

-Instill in my/our children the importance of academic success leading to a high school diploma
-Read all portions of the WCSD Parent Student Handbook and ensure that our children and we comply with its spirit and contents
-Provide at home, to the greatest extent possible, a quiet place with good lighting for my/our children to complete their school work
-Talk or interact regularly with my/our children’s teachers about the learning process to ensure that my/our children are and remain on the “pathway to graduation”
-Monitor my children’s school work and activities and communicate with my children’s teachers on a regular basis through “parent portals” to WCSD’s “Infinite Campus”
-Speak up for my/our children to support their learning and development and to ensure their access to their school’s education opportunities; assist others to do likewise for their children when the need for assistance is apparent and appropriate; collaborate with school staff and other parents to influence and create policies, practices and programs
-Support the District’s expectations for students including homework, behavior, attendance, and appearance/attire, applying appropriate parental guidance when and where appropriate and understand my/our responsibility to ensure that my/our children are not disruptive to the education process
-Recognize that should my/our child apply for employment with a business that has adopted this Community Compact, the school will provide that business with a “Certificate in Good Standing” for the child referencing the child’s academic, attendance, and conduct status.
-Work collaboratively with parents/guardians/advocates of my/our children’s classmates to enhance learning opportunities, community services, and civic participation
-Consider opportunities within the school district for mentoring and or tutoring students, for assisting with reading, literacy, and mathematics programs, and other student or school programs (Teacher Aid, Math Counts, Academic Olympics, etc.) as well as serving on school or district committees that benefit education (Parent Involvement Council, Parent/Faculty Associations, Information Technology Advisory Group, Bond Oversight or Technical Committees, etc.)
-In the spirit of ensuring my/our children’s academic proficiency as well as graduation from high school, I/we do commit to the above checked activities.
