Officials of regional judicial and law enforcement agencies, in full recognition of the importance of K-12 education to our community’s quality of life, our region’s economic health, and to the individual success of each student, enthusiastically adopt this Community Compact in demonstration of our support of public education within the Washoe County School District. As district and municipal courts, law enforcement departments and agencies, and as individuals, we will commit to those areas of support checked below:

-Maintain a heightened awareness of children whose behavior reflects the likelihood of departure from the “pathway to graduation” and take appropriate steps to deal with s uch behavior within our official capacity or make appropriate referrals to recognized programs and agencies whose charter is to assist those children and their families to modify such behavior and return those children to the pathway.
-Communicate regularly with the Compact Administrator regarding appropriate notices, programs, activities, policies that can be broadcast to Compact participants.
Maintain a close relationship with the Compact Administrator with recommendations to improve the Compact and/or interaction among Compact sectors and participants.
-Serve as a Compact Liaison to the Washoe Ready for Life Compact Liaison Committee to ensure the Compact is effective and productive. Relevant perspectives include but are not limited to truancy, gang, and drug intervention.
-In the spirit of improving individual student achievement and conduct and District graduation and proficiency rates, I commit to the above checked activities.
