Elected Officials - State and Local

In full recognition of the importance of education to the future of our children, our region, and our state, as an elected official I will commit to supporting the following priorities:

-Becoming familiar with the challenges and issues of education in general and within my own district in specific
-Become aware of current issues facing education and be visionary with regard to education delivery alternatives for the future.
-Recognize that funding mechanisms must be flexible to meet changing economic conditions as well as evolving trends in education
-Ensure that education is being delivered with the highest levels of competence, efficiency, and accountability
-Making systemic changes in our education system consistent with Nevada’s Promise, the 2010 Governor’s Education Reform Blue Ribbon Task Force’s final report.
-Being cognizant of the interaction between the federal government and the state and the implications on the administration of local school districts. State oversight of local school districts must be supportive of locally driven reforms
-Being aware of local district continuing capital needs and ensuring that funding mechanisms are available to local districts to meet those needs.
-In the spirit of transforming education in my district and throughout the State of Nevada, I commit to the above checked activities.
